Happy Birthday To Me! How You Can Win A $50 Williams Sonoma Gift Card!

birthday2008

As I mentioned yesterday the month of October brings my birthday. I'll be 35 on October 11th and I want to celebrate and share the love with you! See I'm a big believer in celebrating birthdays. I think you should have fun, remember the good times in your life, look forward to the good times to come, relish in your age! I'm not one of those people who will be forty twenty times or any of that nonsense! I've earned every one of my years and I'm proud of where I am, and where I have yet to go!

So how does this involve you? I'm glad you asked...Let me tell you! ;oP

I love Williams Sonoma. When their catalog comes I sit for hours looking and drooling over all their fabulous kitchen/home items! And their food too...I mean come on...The picture of this apple alone gives me a sugar high! So what better way to celebrate my birthday then by giving you the chance to win a $50 Williams Sonoma gift card!

If you'd like your chance to win simply leave a comment below and tell me about the most favorite thing you've ever done in your life and what you want to do before you die. Be creative, be heartfelt! You may give me ideas of things I want to do!

Be sure and leave a valid e-mail address so I can contact you if you win...Don't worry, no one but me will see it! All comments should be made before 11:59 PM EST October 9, 2008. The winner will be announced the morning of October 10, 2008 when I have my little Sous Chef (aka Alexis) pull the winner out of a hat. Who knows...We may even use her chef's hat! ;o)

Now the rules and stuff...Once comment per person. While I normally open up my contests to any one on planet earth, sadly Williams Sonoma does not ship to foreign addresses so this one is for US residents or US territories only. If it was up to me I'd open it to everyone! Williams Sonoma in no way endorses me or anything of that sort, I'm simply a fan of theirs who wants to share the Williams Sonoma love for my birthday!

So get to commenting and don't forget to tell your friends! Don't worry...I'll keep reminding you too! ;oP

I am only 21, so I have not been able to experience much, but my most favorite moment was getting married to my husband. He is the love of my life and I will never forget that day. Before I die, I want to make a difference in the lives of children!!

Happy Birthday

I've probably told you this before, but you share a birthday with my Mother in Law! Strangely, Raf and I will be camping at Mt. St. Helens on your birthday! isn't that weird? So I will be enjoying Mt. St. Helens for you :). I've never been there so I'm looking forward to it.

5 things I've enjoyed in my lifetime
1. Living down the street from the Pacific Ocean for 5 years.
2. Having my photographs displayed in a gallery and someone actually buying one.
3. Riding my bike at "breakneck" speed down "Adam's Hill" when I was a kid.
4. Watching the sunset on the beach
5. Meeting my husband.

Something I want to do before I die:
Visit Italy

Happy Birthday!

The most favorite thing I've done in my life is travel with my husband. Our favorite destination so far is Yosemite. It was actually our first vacation together as well.

Before I die, I'd like to have visited all the national parks in America. This idea spawned off our trip to Yosemite.

Probably the coolest thing I've done is go to Paris. And the thing I would like to do most is take my son there when he gets a little older. Hope you have a terrific birthday!

I've never commented on anything here before, but I really love reading your blog - it's one of my "regular reads" :)

One of the best things I ever did was start volunteering at a local animal rescue. It is such a great feeling to know that I'm making a difference, and it has been such a joy to know all the wonderful animals and people I have come across as a result.

Something I most want to do is go to Greece. I've traveled overseas before (which I believe everyone should do at least once!) but that is one place I've never been and always dreamed of.

Hope your birthday is spectacular!

Best thing I've done is started working from home. What I'd like to do before I die is live a good, healthy life.

Posted by: rachel at October 2, 2008 4:35 PM

Happy Birthday! I just found your site this week and I have really enjoyed it! You have some yummy looking recipes. There are many favorite memories ( I am 55) 1. going to Greece
2. marrying my husband (30 yrs.)
3. teaching our children to read
4. watching our oldest get married
There are too many wonderful memories to mention!
Before I die I would love to take a long trip with my hubby and have a house by the lake.

Let's see. I've done a lot of fun things in my life. 6 Bon Jovi concerts (and counting). Meeting several of the Indianapolis Colts players/coaches. But I think my favorite thing I've ever done was when I drove to Cape Cod for a friend's wedding. I chose to drive because at the time it was cheaper than flying, so I just made a weekend out of it. In addition to the wedding, I toured several Kennedy-themed areas of the Cape, visited the Cape Cod Potato Chip factory, fell in love the The Christmas Tree Shops, and stopped in Mystic, CT on my way back to have authentic Mystic Pizza (a la the movie). I was all alone in that car, but I really had a blast. I should do that kind of thing more often.

What I'd like to do before I die:
1. Get married and have kids
2. Write a book or two
3. See a basketball game in the Dean Dome in Chapel Hill, NC
4. Go to the College World Series in Omaha, NE
5. Tour as many of the NFL football stadiums as I can (or want to...) as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame
6. See Bon Jovi in concert every chance I get

Bummer, I always miss out on the good ones because I'm a Canuck. :-( (Not that I'd give up being Canadian.)

Either way, I'll give you an idea - a cooking vacation around the world, where you travel the world and take cooking lessons in each of the countries you visit. Hands on, enjoying the feast after, kind of cooking vacation. What I'd like to do in retirement. :-)

Happy Birthday, I hope it is wonderful and joyous.

The most favorite thing I have done in my life was walk onto the stage at a beautifully decotrated performing arts center and say "I do" to my husband.

The one thing that I want to do before I die is to visit each of the 50 states. My husband thinks I am crazy but it is what I want to do. It would make me so happy.

Posted by: Amber at October 2, 2008 6:45 PM

Happy Birthday!!! Other than meeting my husband and having my babies, my favorite thing that I have done was taking my kids to Disney World. And the thing that I want to do before I die, well, I have 2. Visit Paris, and visit every state of the US.

Posted by: April at October 3, 2008 8:10 AM

Wow, nice question.
Um, the most fabulous thing I've ever done has been being an adult. It gives me pleasure to make my parents proud. It may sound corny but even at 32, I like being able to do what I can for them and have them beam with pride at me just for being me.

Now, one thing I would like to do before I die is visit the motherland; Italy. We're from Italy and I would give anything to kiss the ground of my family as well as hear mass from the Pope in St. Peter's Square. I have this fear of flying and can't swim so flying over the Atlantic will be a feat within itself.

Happy birthday. I hope it's fabulous!!!

The best thing I've done (this year) is discover food blogs! :) I have found so many great recipes and I love to cook and bake! My favorite memory of all time is marrying my husband three years ago.

We recently traveled to Arizona and being from the mid-west, I was blown away. I definitely left a piece of my heart in Sedona! Before I die, I want to see the rest of this beautiful country!

Posted by: Sarah at October 3, 2008 1:33 PM

I have been so fortunate to experience some lovely things in my twenty-nine years. But, in saying that I definately have my favorite.

Never will I forget mending a home through a Habitat for Humanity project in my university days. This woman had hardly any possessions, her home was falling apart and the earth could be seen through her kitchen floor. I was always a 'glamour girl' growing up with lipgloss hidden in my pockets - you know- such a vain teenager! That all vanished that day and I was as dirty as the boys -hammering nails, laying flooring, painting - I immediately was drawn to this lady and her spirit for life despite her living conditions and I wanted to make her life better. Once the project was complete and her home was mended, I will never forget her face and the appreciation she showed us all. That was the most fun I have ever had in my life. It beats seeing Paris, living in London and even teaching children. It was a magical day!I believe it is far better to do for others - that is what makes life so wonderful and fun.

As for what I want to do before I die. I hope I can return to my roots of northern Mississippi and actually appreciate them. There is so much culture there and I spent my childhood and teenage years not being able to wait to move away because I felt it was 'boring' on 'full of no culture'... I could not be more wrong. I want to take my husband there and discover my homeland all over again.

Happy Birthday, dear heart! I hope it is a lovely one! I bet you have a lovely meal in mind! :)

I realise I now live in england so technically do not mean the 'rules'.... but, wanted to share anyhow!

I could always pass the gift along to my mother (who is in the US) for her birthday this month. What is that called... pay it forward? :)

That would work and would be sweet of you too! :o)

Happy Birthday!

The best thing I've done in my life so far is to travel. I think Hawaii was my favorite destination.

Before I die I want to go to culinary school but that'll probably only happen if I win the lottery :)

Posted by: Tracey at October 6, 2008 9:25 PM

Happy birthday! Today is my boyfriend's bday as well, and coincidentally, he is the best thing in my life so far. Before we die we'd like to travel the world.

Posted by: Heather at October 7, 2008 2:28 PM

The best thing I have done in my life, which may sound cheesey, but oh well, is being a Mom. It is even better, even on the bad days, than anything else I've ever done. As for something I'd like to do before I die it would definitely be to travel. There are so many places I want to see. I don't want quick trips either, I want trips where I can just soak in the atmosphere and culture - get a "behind the scenes" look at different lands.

I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful birthday! My baby turns one on the 13th so this is a birthday month at our house too!

Posted by: Holly at October 8, 2008 4:38 PM

What a great idea! Happy (early) birthday to you. I hope you have a great day filled with fun and joy.

My favorite life experiences, so far, are traveling in Europe and having my children. Its amazing to watch them grow and change.

Posted by: Sarah Caron at October 9, 2008 9:12 AM

Happy birthday! I'm turning 35 in April, so lead the way, Sister!

The best thing I've done was to elope to Hawaii with Jeff. We'd been trying to think of compromises that would appease our families, and then the idea came from out of nowhere to just make it this big adventure for the two of us. Alone. Amazing.

Before I die, I want to get kicked out of somewhere for being too rowdy.

Happy Birthday!!
I will have to go along with all the other comments and say the best thing I ever did in my life was becoming a mother.
As for what I would like to do before I die.. I would like to see the Grand Canyon. Sounds easy unless you live on the East coast like myself. I have wanted to see it ever since the Brady Bunch took their family vacation there. Of course my kids would want to push each other over the edge.

Posted by: michele at October 9, 2008 11:15 AM

Happy Birthday!!!

I would say the best thing I have ever done in my life besides giving my life to Jesus--since every good thing since then can be attributed to Him--would be marrying my husband. He has given me a wonderful life and two of the greatest kids I can imagine.

Before I die, I would love a chance to visit and experience Europe.

Posted by: carla at October 9, 2008 11:32 AM

Well, let's see - the greatest thing I've ever done in my life? Having two kids - I know everyone says that but it truly is the greatest thing in the world.

And as far as what I want to do before I die? Visit Hershey Park and wallow in chocolate for a week!!

Happy birthday - I hope you're doing something spectacular!

I'm a brand new reader today (I was referred to you through a comment in a Two Frog Home post about slow cooker foods). Happy Birthday!

Besides marrying my husband, my favorite thing I've done is spend a summer as a wilderness counselor up in the Apostle Islands (Lake Superior).

I would love to travel around the northern Mediterranean with my husband.

The best thing that happened to me in my life was meeting and marrying the love of my life. The second and third were my children and grandchildren. I love traveling and seeing new places.

There are a couple of things that I would like to do before I pass away, 1) see my grandchildren grow into adults, 2) a dream vacation to Alaska and 3) being able to retire in comfort someday (and be healthy enough to enjoy it).

Happy Birthday Diane!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best: 1) Marrying the love of my life
2) my children
3) my grandchildren
Look forward to: 1) watching grandchildren grow into adults, 2) dream vacation, 3) retirement with good health.
Happy Birthday, Diane!!!!!!!!1

The most favorite thing I have done in my entire life is marry my husband and have kids. My husband is a Marine so that leaves tones of adventures! My favorite thing after our kids was born was we were given the choice of going to Ohio or to Okinawa Japan (for those who don't know it is a small Island south of Mainland Japan and it saw a lot of action in WWII). We choice the small Island, which we loving call the rock! I get to spend 6 glorious years in a culture outside of my own and my kids get to grow up learning and seeing how another culture works. They don't get to learn about WWII in a textbook they get to see the museums and talk to the people who can remember it. It is trully a blessing to be here. What I want to do before I die: I want to go to europe and do a backpacking trip through europe, germany, spain, and france. Just so I can see more fo there history!!

Posted by: Bambi at October 9, 2008 5:18 PM

It's hard to pick a favorite. My wedding day was one of the best days of my life even though I'm no longer married. I was lucky enough to travel to Nepal and Bhutan and I've seen the sun rise over Mt. Everest. I even saw Richard Gere in person from just a few feet away at the Tibetan Folk Life Festival on the Mall in DC (and yes, he's just as handsome and cool and casual up close)! But I'm going to say my favorite thing to do is vacation in the Outer Banks in October with my favorite guy in the world (Frank) and our favorite dogs (Chinese Cresteds). We rent an oceanfront house with a Jacuzzi tub and a fireplace and wild horses meander by every day. We walk on the beach (the dogs love that!), we collect seashells, we do some shopping and we eat lots of fresh seafood : )

I wish I could travel more often. Before I die, I'd like to see Hawaii and Alaska.

The best thing I have done is gotten married and had kids. My husband is a marine so that leaves plenty of excitment. Our most recent was getting to choose between Ohio and Okinawa Japan. We decided to go overseas and are in Okinawa and will be here for 6 years. When we leave our kids will be 11 and 6 1/2. They will grow up not reading about Japanese Culture and WWII, but living the Japanese Culture and learning about WWII from the people and these awesome museums and monuments they built to remember it! Life cant get any better than learning the information first hand instead of through a history teacher. Before I die I want to do a backpacking trip through England, Spain, France, Spain, and Germany

Posted by: Bambi at October 9, 2008 5:34 PM

LOL, best thing ever? Wow, how to pick one thing out of 43 years of best things ever... of COURSE, I have to say things like watching my sweet babies sleep and marrying my sweet husband. But what things have I done... I've gone on some fantastic, long road trips. If I had to pick just ONE... it would be this one. Start in Boston, then on to Provincetown (stop and observe Plymouth Rock), (back through Boston), up to Maine (stop on the coast somewhere and eat incredible, not-expensive lobster, also stop at the L.L. Bean store), up to Bar Harbor, ME, then on to Montreal (stop at the Reebok factory), see the sites, down to Lake Placid, NY and check out the Olympics sites, then around Lake Champlain, over to Vermont and tour the Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory (was that Burlington? can't remember). Then finally back to Boston. Whew! I'll bet you're sorry you asked.

No wait!! I forgot... the drive between Red Lodge, MT and the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park is one of the most fabulous drives ever. EVER, I'm telling you! I keep telling my husband he must spread my ashes there when I'm gone.

To do... visit all of the National Parks in the US. And walk the Appalachian Trail.

Thanks for the chance to win something :)

Oh my gosh, I am such a heathen! I got so wrapped up in my post that I forgot to say Happy Birthday!!

So, Happy Birthday! Long life and happiness to you :)
